While peoples attention are on the devastating oil spill disaster in the Gulf of Mexico, a little known strory has not made national healines but has in Mississippi. http://www.wlox.com/Global/story.asp?S=12399493
The MS public service commission has struck another blow to the coal industry. MS Power’s request to build a lignite plant in Kemper county has been granted but the badly needed energy source has been so heavily laden with regulations that it in effect makes the approval worthless. MS Power’s plan to build the new technology plant using “soft coal” has been put on hold. It would have provided jobs and would place a minimal cost to the consumers. The ruling was applauded with mcuh glee from the Sierra club, unfortunately we will be hearing of more stories much like Johny Alford’s.
